The Go-Anywhere Package
The Go-Anywhere Package offers a warranted system that includes the MirrorDome
software and updates, the mirror-projector stand, the portable dome, blower
fan, projector, computer, and a wide range of movies and programmes. Also
available is a one or two year service contract.
The complete Go-Anywhere Package can be fitted easily into small vehicles for
travel wherever you want. Usually just one presenter is required for schools,
but for public sites like shopping malls we suggest having a second person
outside the dome for security. Our Technical Manager and Representatives are
available to help you set up on a basic cost basis, however the Go-Anywhere
Package is so straightforward that most customers have never needed this service!
Package Components
The MirrorDome software is licensed from Swinburne
University, and we provide updates as they are introduced. Cosmodome can guide
you through the installation, and offers a full technical service contract for
one or two years. The software also includes a programme to project DVD
presentations onto the dome without changes to the setup.
Software is driven by a 17" Mac laptop. You may decide to buy
that yourself or we can supply it with a world-wide warranty. Buying from
Cosmodome means that we can pre-load the software on the laptop. Either way,
the cost is around $3,800.
Manufactured for us here in
Melbourne, they are designed for easy travelling. The folding stand is very
simple to erect and fully protects the mirror. It also includes a versatile
mount that allows a wide choice of projectors and can be adjusted for height,
tilt, direction, and focal length.
For standard mobile operations, we recommend the Dell 5100MP
SXGA+ projector. Cosmodome does not distribute these, but Dell frequently offer
special deals. Cost is under $4,000.
We highly recommend Go-Domes as best for image
projection. For mobile presentations we suggest 5 or 6-metre diameter domes -
the 5-metre holds about 30 children, so can take one full class plus their own
teacher. We also offer a fire test certificate for the domes.
Cosmodome can supply the blower fans needed to inflate the
domes.
For curriculum-based astronomy our programmes include Stellarium, Celestia,
a Solar System flythrough, and other special programmes that can be tuned to
the age of the group attending. These are very simple to operate from a laptop
computer.
We offer a wide range of full-dome movies, and
the cost includes a perpetual licence. You are not constrained to buy movies
from Cosmodome, as anything made for fisheye projection is automatically
converted to our system by the software. It is even possible to make your own
films for exhibition, providing a fisheye camera is used. You can also
project DVD movies on the front quarter of the dome (they do not have
enough pixels for the full dome).
The MirrorDome license has a warranty duration of two years, during which
advice and service are included. After that period assistance will be provided
on a cost/time basis, or by service contract.
